Principles for selecting the casting method of counterweight blocks:
The reason why the counterweight blocks are made by sand casting is that sand casting has lower costs, simpler production processes, and shorter production cycles compared to other casting methods. When the wet mold cannot meet the requirements, then other types of sand molds such as clay sand dry molds, dry sand molds, or other types of molds can be considered. The weight of the castings produced by clay wet mold sand casting can range from a few kilograms to several tens of kilograms, while the castings produced by clay dry mold can weigh up to several tens of tons.
The casting method for the counterweight blocks should be adapted to the production batch size. Casting methods such as low-pressure casting, die casting, and centrifugal casting are not suitable for small-scale production due to the high cost of equipment and molds.
The design method of the counterweight blocks should be suitable for the factory conditions.
